Bread Dumplings

Makes24
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup fine bread crumbs, or as needed
1/2 teapoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon milk
2 teaspoons finely minced fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon grated onion

Mix together all ingredients, using more bread crumbs if needed to make a workable dough. Chill at least 1 hour. Form into 24 small balls and cook in simmering salted water 3·minutes after balls rise to the surface and puff up.
