Cranberry Cookies

1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 c. pecans
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. mixed, diced candied fruit
1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
2 1/2 c. fresh cranberries, coarsely chopped

Cream butter, sugars, and vanilla together. Beat in milk and egg. Mix and sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Blend well. Stir in candied fruit, orange peel, and cranberries. For each cookie mound 2 level tablespoons on well greased cookie sheet. Space mounds about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 for 15 to 18 minutes. Makes approximately 3 1/2 dozen cookies, 3 inches in diameter.
