Chocolate Bavarian Pudding with Almonds

5 egg yolks
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
4 sq. (4 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate
1 c. whipping cream, whipped
1 pkg. gelatin
3/4 c. almonds

Beat egg yolks with 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Combine milk, chocolate and gelatin in saucepan. Stir over medium heat until gelatin is dissolved and chocolate melted. Gradually beat into egg mixture. Chill. Stir occasionally. Meanwhile, heat 1/2 cup sugar. Stir over medium heat until liquid and golden. Stir in almonds and turn at once onto a buttered baking dish or foil. Cool. Crush 2/3 of this with a rolling pin.
Fold whipped cream into chocolate mixture. Layer in dish with crushed almonds. Top with remaining 1/3 of almonds. Chill.
