Austrian Billy Goats

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. fresh baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts (walnuts)
Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs and remaining ingredients. Dissolve soda in a tablespoon of warm water and add to mixture. Spread onto cookie sheet and bake at 325 for about 20- 25 minutes. Cut into 2 inch squares and dust with powdered sugar.
