Spicy Gingerbread


2 eggs
1 cup boiling water
3/4 cup molasses
2/3 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 cups plain flour
1/4 cup cooking oil
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons soda
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Beat eggs in a large bowl. Add sugar, molasses and oil. In another bowl, sift all the dry ingredients together and mix well. Add the dry ingredients to the first bowl; next blend in the hot water. Be sure all the ingredients are mixed smoothly. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Serves 12.
